Our Philosophy on Teacher Training
At Club Pilates Rancho Mirage, we believe great instructors are developed through a combination of education, mentorship, practice, and experience.
Learning the Pilates method is important. Understanding anatomy, movement principles, exercise progressions, and equipment systems is essential. But we also believe that truly successful instructors learn how to communicate effectively, observe movement patterns, adapt to individual needs, and create an environment where clients feel supported and successful.
In our teacher training program, we focus not only on what to teach, but how to teach.
Our goal is to help students develop the confidence, professionalism, and leadership skills needed to become exceptional Pilates instructors.
Learn from an Experienced Master Trainer
One of the greatest strengths of our program is the opportunity to learn from Master Trainer Susan Woods.
Susan brings more than 25 years of Pilates teaching experience and has spent nearly a decade educating and mentoring future instructors through the nationally recognized Club Pilates Teacher Training Program. Her expertise in movement observation, anatomy, cueing, and instructor development has helped countless students build successful teaching careers.
Students consistently appreciate Susan's supportive teaching style, practical approach, and ability to help complex concepts become clear and accessible.
A Flexible Learning Format Designed for Real Life
Many prospective students worry that teacher training will be difficult to fit into an already busy schedule.
That's why our Pilates instructor training program combines online learning with in-person education, allowing students to progress while balancing work, family, and other commitments.
Our blended learning model includes:
Online coursework
In-studio training weekends
Observation hours
Self-practice
Practice teaching
Assistant teaching opportunities
This structure allows students to learn at a pace that supports long-term success while still receiving hands-on mentorship and guidance.
Comprehensive Pilates Education
Our comprehensive Pilates teacher training program provides education across all major Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Springboard, Mat, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Magic Circle.
Students complete a 450-hour comprehensive training program designed to develop the knowledge, practical skills, and teaching experience needed to pursue a career as a Pilates instructor. The program also prepares graduates to sit for the exam to become a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) through the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP), formerly known as the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA).
Most importantly, students graduate with more than technical knowledge. They leave with hands-on experience, teaching confidence, and a strong foundation for helping others move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives.
